Liliesleaf People Map
Working with Digital Fabric, we created another stunner for the Liliesleaf Museum. The Liliesleaf People Map is an interactive, multitouch surface at Liliesleaf Farm in Rivonia, Johannesburg, South Africa. Liliesleaf is a historical site that marks the location where the leaders of the armed struggle against apartheid were arrested in 1963. The Rivonia Raid led to the infamous Rivonia Trial and subsequent incarcerations on Robben Island. The real story of Liliesleaf however, includes many people; some that are well known in political history, and some that served the liberation movement without acknowledgement. The People Map links all of these people together in a user-friendly interface.
The physical hardware consists of a Server PC, a 40″ multi-touch surface and a high-brightness projector that projects the interface on a curved wall nearby.
The People Map allows visitors to explore detailed information about all the people connected to Liliesleaf. They can search for specific people and read more about them, view photos and other related media including video.
The CMS was built by DC Interactive and allows the client to add new profiles to the software and grow this People Map as research allows.
