Liliesleaf Interactive Table
Liliesleaf played an important part of South Africa’s history. Back in the 1960s, Liliesleaf Farm was a remote hide-out where the leaders of the political struggle against apartheid in South Africa held secret meetings. Recently, thanks to the Liliesleaf Trust, it has been transformed into a world-class museum. During the police raid on Liliesleaf farm in 1963, various key leaders were arrested and tried in the subsequent Rivonia Trial. The accused were sentenced to spend over 25 years in prison on Robben Island.
We were approached by Digital Fabric to create this interactive table. There are 2 silver navigator devices on the table containing infrared lights that are tracked with Wii remotes mounted above. These devices are motion tracked and trigger the 3d interface that is projected using 2 projectors also mounted above. The user is able to navigate through videos, audio, images and text.
